Topic awaiting preservation: Good Case Fans (Page 1 of 1)

Anyone have any suggestions for some good computer-case fans? I've got three 80mm fans I need to replace because they're getting a little noisy. They're pretty old and get off-balance every once in a while, usually in the middle of the night, and start making that annoying whirr-whirr-whirr sound.

My local Fry's was out of 80s, except for the ones with LEDs in them. (I don't need my fans to light up. ) I'll check another Fry's about 45 minutes away when the ice thaws, but I suspect I may have to order some.

Quiet is good, but I don't mind a small amount of white noise when I sleep. Reliable is more important.

By the way, brands to stay away from are also appreciated.

I have five of these in my main PC--two intake, two exhaust, one on the CPU cooler. Built it about 3 1/2 years ago and they're still quiet.

They're not for OCers.

I also use their Silencer power supply.

I sleep in the same room with my computer. We're just good friends.

Thanks, brucew. I'll take a look at that other Fry's and see if they've got them. If not, I can order them; with shipping, they'll cost the same as getting the $10 ones at the store.

BTW, what's an OCer?
