Topic awaiting preservation: What Keeps Running? (Page 1 of 1)

I've got something popping up every once in awhile in my taskbar and I don't know what it is. It just comes up for a second. No window or anything, just a button on the taskbar.

I've been able to spot it, but haven't been able to react quickly enough to hit Print Screen, though that wouldn't really do any good, since there's no label and the icon is a default Windows logo.

It doesn't last long enough for me to spot it in my process list, so I don't know what it is. It's probably just some update checker for a legitimate program, but I'd like to know for sure. Is there any way to check what it was after the fact?

might check firewall logs if you run one, and log I'd assume your right with an updater and logging should have it down

I looked at ZoneAlarm's log but it doesn't tell me much. It only logs alerts, I think.

Maybe I should reset all my allowed programs and then see what comes through.
