Saw that the other day. It looks really nice.
I guess a double-click on the window/icon of an application will bring it to fullscreen, with some options to tiles several windows on the screen, or make a fullscreen pile among which one can copy/paste/switch.

Blacknight:- I guess it would be easier to locate what u want rather than scolling up and down to search what u need. In this case u just perform a quick scan on the desktop...and launch the application or open a doc.

jup but wheres the difference in scrolling down my explorer or through the piles i have made ..that have no names no extra info. in a nice organized enviroment i find anything within a few klicks ....

take this situation you are working on several docs from different areas ..so you are switching piles all the time (yes this does happen often) without names or other hints (so the piles only) you forget emediatly in wich pile you have what ..i prefere folders with names to relocate what i was looking for.

give me some nice yello post-it to the piles and it might be usefull to messy guy like me ^^

added:

And didn't we invent computer as for not to have to look through piles of papers anymore???

Blacknight: Such interface is more intuitive than the GUI of current OS. People not familiar with computers could quickly get it. It could prove efficient on public computers ( in train stations, airports, conference halls, ... )

Anyhow I agree that tooltips with the file/app infos are cruelly missing.

I think computer were invented to "compute" heavy calculation and do data en/decryption.

This is kind of cool but largely pointless. I can't fathom why I'd want to "stack" my icons into piles in the first place.

Er, come to think of it, I don't even having icons on my desktops ...

Great..... Now we can play 52 pickup with our desktop. Looks mostly pointless to me. Besides, my computer is the only thing in my house thats NOT filled with piles of sketches, photos, and papers, now my desktop can match my home, office, and bad habbits.

If you've read the comments on the youTube site I think you'll get what's wrong with this idea. The nice thing about computers is that they don't have to get as messy as your actual desktop. I personally would find a 3D desktop inthat fashion a pain to use.

Finally your computer desktop can be as messy as your real desk top.
