Haven't been around here too much lately except to pass along the occasional strange/funny/random web link. Truth is I've been fairly busy and stressed for the past couple of months because I got fired back in April. Long story short they told me it was performance related but the truth (as I've found out from friends elsewhere in the company) was that they have been getting rid of some of the higher salaried people and bringing in people they can pay a lot less. Shitty deal but it does happen.

Anyway, I got a job this past week at UnitedHealth Group in their Prescription Solutions division as a project analyst. I'll be helping them get their new mail order pharmacy to function better and faster. It seems like a great company to work for and a job that I'll really enjoy.

Only downside is no more globetrotting. Ah well, at least I got all of that out of my system in my five years at my past job.

bummer and congrats all in the same post

That same exact thing happend to me about 4 years ago. I mean the *exact* same thing. Even after having paperwork to prove my growth in the company, I was still let go. In the long run it was actually a great thing since I was able to get out of sales and into more of a computer related job.

UnitedHealth does seem to be a good company. That is who I had my health insurance with a couple of years ago.

Congratulation on the new job krets! I hope it works out for you.

Wasn't the company you used to work for McKesson? They let me go about four years ago so they could hire someone who didn't cost as much.

Thanks all.

hyper: Not McKesson, they were a competitor of the company I worked for: ScriptPro.

Cprompt: Really sucks don't it? My boss had just called me in to her office about a month before I was let go to tell me that I was doing a great job and that she wanted me to be one of the main people involved in a big upcoming project. When she fired me she then proceeded to tell me that the meeting was really because of my poor performance. Covering her ass I suppose.

yes it does suck. To beat it all I had just bought a house about 2 months prior to that. We went through about 4 managers while I was there. While we were in interim, I was *acting manager*. Got a fulltime manager and BAM!

Oh well. Things like that happen for a reason I believe. It happend to me to get me out of sales I think. I was looking for an excuse and got on LOL!

At any rate. It's a good feeling when you start to get back on your feat after something like that. It's the things in life like that, that "test" you so to speak IMO. Best of luck with the new job

Sorry, I know I'm late on this one, but I wanted to say congratulations. Had it been 5 years? Wow time does fly, doesn't it? I was fired in December (a week and a half before Christmas) and though it was scary as hell to be unemployed with bills continuing to come, it was a blessing. I was miserable there and am much happier at my new job. Congrats again to you and I hope you love your new job!
