I have not used this new software yet which is still in Beta stage, as it is only for Macs at present, but I have signed up to get my hands on it when a Windows version comes out.
Lightroom
Has anyone used it yet, if so what do you think?

Seriously. Lightroom is cool, and it is VERY cool that they release the beta for user feedback. I think they have a long way to go to beat Aperture's feature set on the Mac OS platform, but there will always be die-hard Adobe fans on the Mac and yes - LOTS of PC advocates since Aperture isn't likely to be released on Windows.

Try it if/when they release a Windows beta. Nothing to lose.

Assuming you shoot a LOT of images, and a lot of them are in RAW. Don't know if there is a compelling advantage otherwise.

The point of both Lightroom and Aperture is to streamline editing and asset management - NOT to compete with Photoshop. I don't know if that puts it in a place that matters to you.

Ah ha, I see things a lot more clearly now thank you Steve. My bashed up Fuji S304 does not process the RAW format so untill I get another DC, which hopefully will be in a few months time, I won't really have a use for it. Still, very interesting stuff.
When the camera is behaving itself and working I must take two or three hundred photos a week easily, half of which are binned shortly after loading into the PC, so I think it sounds like a great tool.

this is the kind of thing that gets me upset with Adobe. The PS filemanager could use some work so they release this as a seperate, assumedly very costly, app
