I've been running WinXP Pro in a new PC that I assembled and everthing was swell for a while until I started getting 'General Protection Fault' Error whenever I tried running some programs.

I'm on firewall, pc bugdoctor, McFee Enterprise Antivirus, and Regcleaner. All which have detected nothing.

Its then I decided to install Win2k SP4 on a different partition, clean format and sort of went through a step by step re-installation sorta like Silence adviced docilebob and traced my problem to a couple hundred fonts that I'd borrowed from a friend.

Now to the problems:

Win2k wont install my Printer, HP Laserjet 1200 USB - It sees it but asks for drivers

My other biggest problem is I cannot dual boot to WinXP, I can see it on the dual boot screen but whenever I select it , it starts to boot to Win2k and gives an error that I'm supposed to use a Win2k boot cd to repair.

I've tried to use both Win2k and WinXp Bootable cds but im stuck

Any ideas?

thanks

To get dual boot working properly in windows you need to install the most recent OS last.
The older OS might not recognize functions from the newer OS. So in your case i would say reinstall winXP. This does not mean a "clean install" were you wipeout the content off the harddrive. If i am correct winXP should recognize the 2000 partion and should ask what to do with it. Yuo should select something that will keep the partiton.
But it is a very long time ago since i did it for the last time so be sure to check google for more info.

There is a decent chance you can edit the boot.ini and point it to the Windows XP partition as it seems to be looking for it in the wrong spot.
The repair install should work as well and likely be less messing about to get it right.

code:
[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(2)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition" /fastdetect
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect

That is a sample boot.ini of a drive that has 2 partitions with Windows intalled on them.

I'll try to edit the boot.ini before I do a re-install as I dont want to re-install everything again.
