I got this email that piqued my curiosity. When I googled AGLOCO and then "AGLOCO Scam" I decided; "what the hell, couldn't hurt, right?"

Unless mentioning it here breaks the whole spam and tentacle prohibition of 2004... but then I remembered that the tentacle thing was a self imposed prohibition. And I really don't want to have those awkward images of Suho and Nessie in my mind again... But, if it means a $100,000,000.00 payout, is it really spam?

I don't know...

There's a difference?

Unsolicited advertising is the same as spam - so either way it qualifies (in regard to your email...not is regard to you posting...). Whether it is of value is another question altogether....

Yeah the email I got was definitely spamalicious and I've copied a spamtastic piece of ad copy for this ... but? I'm just not ready to go all hog wild spamming friends and family with the latest get-rich-quick scheme... bbbrrr.

I posted a little sumthin' elsewhere and I already got someone to join.... should I feel dirty?

The Value? I honestly don't know. But I am kind of sick of being inundated with ads every time I click on a link... the idea of getting an extra cup of coffee every month to be an ad junkie guinea pig is kind of bemusing.

But they say they don't cater to porn or gambling ads... hrmmpphh! Damn sissies...
that reminds me, where did suho end up hiding those ... er ... appendage periodicals?

Uh... I mean, I was just curious. Not like weird curious, but kind of like "Hey what ever happened to Bob" kind of curious... in an innocuous sort of way... ya know?

if i get one e-mail from a company trying to promote a product/service, i'd call it marketing or just a mail shot.

if i get 10 e-mails from a company saying I've been accepted for the loan i didn't apply for, it's spam.

IMO, if it's unsolicited, unwanted, or simply unwelcome, then it qualifies as spam. When it gets malicious, then it's still spam, but whoever sent it becomes my next meal. I don't like spam - though I've always rather liked Luncheon Meat.

If I get one email, or ten, from a marketing company, it's spam regardless - I don't sign-up for such crap, so it is always unsolicited.

What really bothers me is that I receive frequent requests for me to update security information for PayPal... and the most cursory examination of the email exposes the stench of phish. I gave up reporting these a long time ago, simply because I received no response to my reports, nor have I seen their frequency diminished. If I could get a hold of whoever is sending these, the probem would disappear overnight...

Most marketing is a scam in one way or another as well...
