Hell, some of my best friends are theists ;) But respecting people's differences, and respecting and accepting people who refuse to accept anyone's differences, and actively work to change your ability to "live my life free of those troubles" are two different things. When I have to be worried that my daughter is going to come home with her new "Intelligent Design" science curriculum, and when the president of the United States can tell me I shouldn't be considered a citizen because I am an atheist, and when that president's son becomes president, and sends us off to war that he "knows god wants him fight", then it becomes a very real issue that is beyond my needing to just "accept people and their beliefs".
