When Rueters opened a news bureau in 2nd life a while back I wondered how long it would take something like this to happen....

What do you think.... this sort of thing good, bad... indifferent or, who gives a rosey red ?

Same here. I'm already busy and happy with my 1st life, I don't need a 2nd one.

I think it's fine to run a campaign on like that on Second Life.










I also think it's okay to discipline your child, there is no God, you should hit people with hammers who drive while talking on their cell phones, and that psychology is a soft science.

And to jump on the bandwagon, with a British subject, it is also completely fine to chop people's right hand off if caught smoking in an enclosed public place from 1 July on.

But sorry, this is a different matter... I guess my point is - which appears to be my conclusion about a lot of things today - get a life.

How about frightening and sad?

Second Life is my current hobby. Keeps me busy and out of trouble.

But when it comes to SL, I'm a content creator. Build, texture, script, and even some animating. It's nice being able to create with all of these things without having to do every little thing. You know, the environment is already there as oppossed to building the environment myself.

I do socialize a little bit, have a few friends, and get crazy on occassion. Generally just messing with people. Like trying to sell Fake ID cards to the newbs. Or even trying to sell condoms. Hell, I even go wild boar hunting at Apollo on occassion.

But these 'glorified IRC' people really get on my nerves. People get married in SL and take it very seriously. OMG. Then there was the French political guy incident not too long ago. OMG. Political champaigns in SL? OMG.

I like SL because I can focus my creativity without getting caught up in the nitty-gritty tech stuff.

But a great deal of the SL folks do need a first life.

Hang my head in shame?
Hold my head up proudly?

Either way, dismiss the drama.

I'm all over the map on this one. Being something of a political junkie I like the idea that candidates are using all available vehicles to get out their message. Bottom line however is...it's political advertising so I ask myself this question: Is there a difference between spreading bullshit in a virtual world and the real world?

My thinking then becomes even more muddled. Just how 'virtual' is this world really?

A major news agency has a reporter running around in a virtual world reporting back to the 'real' world. The IRS or Canadian equivalent (can't remember which) is trying to figure out if real world taxes can be applied to real world money generated by selling virtual headphones in a virtual world.

Then I wonder if a virtual assassination can be that far off. And if more than one 'virtual' participant is involved I doubt that real world conspiracy charges can be that far off.

It's enough I tell ya to have this old guy reaching for a bottle but it's only 10am. Maybe I'll jump the gun by 5 minutes. =)
