I've used, PrintKey, I didn't like it, and it crashed all the time. I have a couple of additional recommendations from people around me: winsnap & snagit. |

there is one brilliant piece of software called FRAPS. however, fraps can only be used for directX or openGL applications (for example games). |

I finally broke down an got Snagit, I've been very happy with it, now I can work with out it. I'm an inhouse Designer/Production Artist/Web Developer. I need to capture web pages, grabbing graphics from various sites for mock-ups etc. As well as for procedures and training materials for various projects. |

What ^he said about MWSanap. I've been using it for years for all my screencap needs. Everytime I don't think MWSnap won't work for a given project, I dig around and it turns out it will with a little tweaking. It even does mouse pointers which saved me some hacking once. |

In case when you just want to capture a screen, it's enough of simple screens capturing program. I use Screenshot Studio. As a developer, a found many sweet features in it such as free web server for uploading images, smart regions operation and good annotation instruments that help me documenting bugs during tests. |
