Topic: Suggestions please (Page 1 of 1)

I notice there has been a decline in the BigSig contests with none currently running. I realise that this can happen from time to time and perhaps this has been coming for a while.
I would like to see it continue at least in some form or other. It is a bit too late for this month but I'd like to start another one for next month. How say you?
Another thing I'd like to see again is a vote on a subject like "The best sig of the year" or "The top ten sigs"
I remember there was a vote like this a few years back but I can't remember how it started. It would be difficult to vote for the "Best Ever" sig unless you actually had a good many to choose from. I know I have not seen all the good sigs that have been made here. For instance, now that I am back online I have noticed DL-44 has put a sig rotator into effect and I realised then that I had not seen a lot of his sigs before and some of them are brilliant.

I'm with ya Tao... I've been away for a bit and have just returned... I was about to post a topic asking if it (the sig contests) had killed over when I read this post. How about we do a "personal favorites"? Where you are allowed to post one of your past sigs that you think is the best of yours... and then have the asylum vote on those...?

I meant to submit something for the xmas one, but it was getting near the end and then the submission time was ended prematurely. Probably not a problem for most people, but meh.

I like the suggestion redroy, it has been done before but that's no reason why we can't do it again. Here are the relevent threads from the past "best of" for interest.

I've been trying to collate all the winners from last year so we could have a vote on the "best of year 2006" but I can't find any link to January and February's Big Sig competitions. Can any Mad Sci help me locate them please.

Cool... hopefully we can locate the missing winners soon.

This is what we have so far, March through to December. I thought we may as well lash them up now as I have tried every search term I can think of to look for the missing months without success. I think that Space Fold fella left some kind of black hole in the north tower. I've been losing the odd hour here or there or even whole days now and again, but this is tthe first time I have lost a whole couple of months, consecutive at that too.

As for the voting method, I think we could use the same method mas suggested in the previous vote (see above links). Then perhaps we could finish the voting at the end of the month (ish) and resume the normal comp after that if the interest is still there.

I'm all for the idea, but I think using just past contest winners is far too constrictive. I would recommend a 'submissions' thread where anyone can enter any number of old or new sigs (and we can include by default the past winners as well).

That's strange that Jan and Feb are missing... Tao, how about we get the topics posted along side the winners?

Silly moi, I should have included the subject you're right redroy. Now it is too late to include it in my previous post so I'll have to make do with listing the subjects here.

I think you are probably right DL-44, I was thinking of doing both actually, a "Best of the year" and an "Asylum's most favourite". Now I'm not too sure if it is a good idea. One may distract from the other.
The format of the previous "most favourite" seemed to work well didn't it? Do you think one submission each should still stand or should we have more than that per person?
I suppose one each is more straighforward, I just like to see as many good ones as possible. I can think of quite a few inmates who have several excellent sigs that are well worth viewing again.

I can feel a cloud of vaugeness forming around me. I'll go and have something to eat and think about it. ANyone out there have any other suggestions on the matter?

Either way, I'd like to see the month to month contests come back. In full swing they're very entertaining.

I can't see any reason not to allow people to submit as many as they wish...
The winners of the contests don't necessarily constitute either the best or the favorites, as they are limited in subject matter and winners chosen by one person.

so many good sigs out there, would be a shame to limit the scope of submissions =)

... so are we starting another thread for the "official" kick off of this contest?
