My wife pulled 4 eggs from the carton.... all 4.... double yokes. I wonder what the rest of the carton holds?

<keanu>Whoa.</keanu>

That has got to be one of the oddest things I have ever seen. Kudos for thinking to snap a photo.

I found two different sources (1) and (2) that say that the odds of finding a double yolk egg (by chance) are about 1 in 1000. However, these odds tend to be skewed when you buy eggs in the store because the eggs have probably been candled to give you only single yolk eggs or to give you mainly double yolk eggs.

I also ran across an article by someone who had gotten twelve double yolk eggs in a dozen. This was probably done deliberately by the people packaging the eggs.

If you bought your eggs from a local farmer who is not classifying the eggs when they are packaged the chances of picking four eggs at random from a carton and each of them having double yolk would be 1 in 1,000,000,000,000.

Also double yolk eggs are more common with duck and goose eggs than with chicken eggs.

This must be the number then....as these eggs are 'free range' purchased from a woman my wife works with and she quite literally pushes aside the hens... grabs the eggs... puts them in a carton calls'em good.... and they are!

It will be curious to see what's in the remainder of the carton.... maybe I'll try to candle the remaining eggs using the scanner. But not right now... the sun is shining... bit of a rarity these past many months... so I'm outside.... NOW!!

Laughing myself silly at Wes's piccie.

Free Range perhaps...

Free from alien experimentation..? Who knows? Probing cows is soooo 80's, man. Now they're encouraging the development of twinned super-chickens; to be cybernetically augmented once they reach maturity. Eventually, they'll lead a whole alien-enhanced farmyard army to world domination.

Having monitored Earth communications and seen the horrors inflicted upon their unborn young, NoJive, the poultry overlords will be coming for you first!

Sorry. Long day at the office. Bored.

Thanks, Wes. I laughed so hard I fell out of my chair and smacked my head on the wall. Then again, it has been 36 hours since I last slept properly...

I like the blue one with the polka dots. Great contrast.
On the previous stunt my favorite is the little guy at the bottom. He looks so pissed it's funny

NoJive: what about the rest of the carton ? any tripe or quadruple yolk ?

OK... here's the break down so far.

The first egg was a double. Monday.
The 2nd 3rd 4th & 5th were doubles. Tuesday.
6, 7 & 8 were SINGLES. Wednesday.

So that leaves 4 to go..... who knows.

OK....so the last 4 were all singles... that makes 5 doubles and 7 singles in that dozen....

and my wife just came home with another 2 dozen from the same source and the first was another double the next a single.

No pics this time... but I'll have the camera ready next time. =)
