Well, since I know squat about 3D modeling, I need some direction/help here. All I need is a simple tower-shaped antenna (something like one of these).

I've searched a bunch of "free 3D models" sites (by no means all of them yet), and it seems like I've found just about everything except some kind of tower.

How much trouble would it be to try and make one myself? Are there any free tools to do simple models in? I've got Blender installed (had it for a long time) but I've never done anything with it. I've also played with Google Sketchup for a few minutes.

In the end, I need something that I can convert into a DirectX .x mesh file. I've got a utility to convert .3ds files to .x, but I don't have 3D Studio Max, so I'm stuck trying to find free models online...

Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions? Anyone just want to create one for me?

Thanks,
LF

Thanks velvetrose, I hadn't searched the FAQ, just didn't think about it at the time.

After a quick glance through the archived threads and another short search, it looks like it's somewhat more complicated than I was hoping But then I guess I kinda saw that coming.

I've got several pages bookmarked now, so when I get some more time I'll start hacking away at something and see how it turns out.

Not sure if you would be interested in this Lord_Fukutoku but as I've just received an email from DAZ informing me that Bryce can now be downloaded for free at Download.com.
I thought it would be rather churlish of me not to pass it on.

I need your advice about my new project. I created a shopping mall and I want to use people cutouts in this.
I'm waiting for ideas...
