Hey everyone,

I'm planning to build a web site for a friend and requires a shopping cart software that is very reliable. I've never worked with shopping carts before and is a little inconfident. The price range I'm looking at is 100-200 US. The method of payment is just paypal for now. I know paypal offers a free shopping cart but my friend wants to extend to credit cards in the future. Does anybody have any good recommendations and experience about any of the many shopping carts out there?

Btw do they use SQL or they remotely host these things?

Although I've not used it myself, I've only heard good reports about Shopify it's free to set up, hosting is done for you, and they take only a small percentage of each purchase (which you could add on top of your initial fee).

Why go through the hassle and pain of setting up a shopping cart, when someone has already done that for you?

Oh, and it's built using Ruby on Rails!

Cheers,

might try Google Checkout Never used it but hey...it's Google

I've heard good things about phpCart.

The company that I used to work for used something and for the life of me I can't remember what it was. Just steer clear of osCommerce. I had to use that once and I hated it.
