Thanks for starting this thread, hyperbole. I was pleased to learn that redroy was a Mormon because I've had few opportunities to speak people of that faith. I just read the NPR interview and found it touched on a couple of things I wanted to explore with redroy: 1. Christ's divinity 2. Sacred texts other than the bible Point #1 is *the* reason I do not consider Mormons to be Xians. I found it very interesting that you used all the same words for describing Christ's divinity in the other thread. You said, "We do believe Jesus Christ to be a member of the God Head and thus having complete divinity". My understanding is that the bible claims Jesus is the one and only Creator of not just this universe but of the whole of creation. The article suggests that Mormons believe Jesus was only involved in one of many universes. How do you understand it? I've always assumed that point #2 explains how Mormons can have a very different view of things when there are 2 separate texts considered sacred in addition to the bible itself. As I understand it there's the Book of Mormon and Pearl of Great Price. I was once told that if I were to point out any discrepancy between these books and the bible then Mormonism would favor these and view the bible as secondary.
