Technically it is jaw-droppingly amazing. Aesthetically it is a nightmare. Composition goes completely out the window with this. Photos are not just about the subjects or prominent features, they are also about blank and negative space. By removing that space, you throw off the balance of a photograph. What might have started out as a beautiful photograph may end up as something that just looks "off." That being said, I can see how this might be useful in certain instances. I would never use it on my photos, though.
