Daniel, There are two reasons why this looks and smells like spam: [olist] * (As Skaarjj mentioned above) The post includes both HTML and BBCode tags, which tells us that it is a one-size-fits-all post that has been plastered indiscriminately about the web. * Despite the fact that your account has been active for over two years now, the only posts you have ever made have been to advertise your program. [/olist] Neither of these things make you a bad person or mean that you have bad intentions. But they do mean that your potential users will be less likely to react positively to your advertisements. You want to make a more favorable impression? Here is my advice: [olist] * Participate in the communities where you wish to advertise. If you hang out here and get to know the people who frequent the Asylum, and vice versa, we are going to be much more receptive to anything you might want to share. This is the most important point, I think. * Tailor your posts to the community where you are posting. If that board uses HTML, use HTML tags. If the board uses BBCode, use BBCode tags. Don't use both. Also, personalize the post so that we know you care about who you are talking to. [/olist] Are either of these things going to make your life easier? In the short run, no. Both of these suggestions (especially the first) will require effort. But it's not always about what is the easiest way, right? You should be thinking about the most effective way. Sure, it may be easier to just plaster one-size-fits-all advertisements on various web sites. It may save you time. But how effective is it going to be? My guess would be: not nearly as effective as if you took the time to get to know your potential users. I know you asked for comments and suggestions about your program, but I felt that this was more important. Had I found your website through a Google search or something it would have been a different story, but when you come into someone's living room to sell them something there is a certain etiquette that should be followed. Fail to do this and you will be labeled a spammer, no matter what your intentions might be.
