Apperantly,
california is burning down.

Well, that can only help the already beautiful californian weather,
but I worry about the inmates living in that part of the world...
it's not like you can run anywhere when you've reached the shore from
this side.

Doc, are you guys all right?
I very much hope you haven't bought an expensive place, just to see
it burn down...

So long,

My thoughts and concerns go out to all those affected too. This is how it has been reported here.

quote:

More than 500,000 people have been ordered to leave their homes to escape wildfires in California in the biggest US evacuation since Hurricane Katrina.

The fires have left one dead, destroyed 1,300 homes and businesses, and are threatening 68,000 more properties.

Bugs lives down that way too. I've just sent him an email to see how they're making out.

My father and mother in-law... flew down just this past Thursday planning to stay a month but are now flying back this weekend. They can't get out before then. They're in their 80's and can't deal with the air quality.

And my brother-in-law lives in Riverside and talking with him last nite he said the fire was about 9 miles away...a bit close for my liking considering how fast these fires move.

It's a bit funny that we out here on the west coast have been told forever to prepare for the big one as in an earthquake but fact of the matter is... fire... is and always will be the biggest threat.

Thinkin' of ya all over there... Bugs, Doc, NJ etc. We're no strangers to fire here, in fact we're still on a total fire ban... and we've had a bit of our wet season rain already!

Even though us Northern Californians detest the South, we would not wish such a thing on anyone.

My thoughts and condolences to those who are affected.

It would be nice if anyone who has contact with Bugs, Doc, NJ, and all of the other SoCo posters could drop them an email and see how they're doing.

I didn't mean to mislead anyone but I am not in California. I am on the West Coast of British Columbia. I have relatives in the fire zone and so far they're ok.

I sent Bugs an email a couple of days ago but haven't heard back.

Hang on.... just checked Bug's blog and there's an entry from yesterday the 24th.... which deals wit DOM scripting and Ajax... no mention of the fire at all.... so I think it's reasonable to assume he and the family are ok. Left him a comment on the blog... so maybe we'll hear back.

It seems to me that the Doc is in the San Francisco area, so they should not be affected. However, I think Radical Rob is in the LA area. It would be nice to hear that he and anyone else in LA or San Diego are OK. Of course, with the fires still burning, they may not have access to the net right now.

This isn't a lot of help, but, it gives some idea of the affected areas.

Hello all! I'm alive and well and really appreciate the concern. I live in Westminster which is pretty close to the beach and therefore well away from the fire zone. The closest fire to us is the one in Irvine a bit South of here. We can smell the smoke a lot and the sun and moon are blood red which gives this place a very surreal and eerie feeling.
