Of course, there will be some room for error (a slight procent, because as you have noted, we could all be living a dream/fairyland, etc and this is all just an illusion, then all bets are off). But assuming for the moment that we do, indeed, exist in a rational world, then yes, I can prove that you exist, scientifically. So no, it is not the same as trying to prove or disprove that a god or gods exist. Where there is absolutely no evidence, it sets up a situation where all possibilities are equal.
