Not to believe in gods, etc, and assume responsibility for ones actions in life. The reason? I am not accepting responsibility for my actions because I believe I will be rewarded with paradise. I do so because I have learned that in the long run, this is the best way for me, myself, to function and be the best that I can be. Note that this only applies to myself (others may feel or act similarly, but I do not advocate my personal way or belief for them). As I do not believe in gods, etc, and still assume responsiblity for my actions, that blows the quoted part of your post out of the water.
