It's quite big. but I think they needed to do something. It was a poor system - I am an exemplary buyer, always have been. But at one point, a seller quoted 7 days to ship maximum and took over a month. So I gave him neutral feedback (exceptionally kind, considering). Promptly, I got neutral feedback with no explanation. I complained, nothing happened. The guy had done this repeatedly, and then offered mutual withdrawal to improve his feedback rating - I saw negative feedback disappear before my eyes. So in this case, it was completely abused. A much better system, IMO, would be to keep feedback hidden until both parties have responded. |

ebay's gone crazy I think. I just read that they gave Scientologists the right to delete auctions that they saw fit. Nice! |

wrayal: I had a similar experience with a seller who sent me burnt, pirated DVDs for a season of a TV show, after charging me something like 20% over the going market rate for one season of this show (I was willing to pay this from an international seller because you can't get the show over here in Australia). When I gave him negative feedback statingthat I'd received pirated DVDs, I immediately got negative feedback in return, claiming that I was a liar, and that I'd delayed payment, done other shitty things, blah, blah, blah, and then got a mutual feedback withdrawl request. I don't care, if people ask me about the feedback in my account, I direct them to this seller's account, where they can see the numerous other people who've given him similar feedback. |

Hang on, the big change here is that purchases form between $1-$25 has increased, but how many purchases are made at that value, in comparison to others? Maybe it's not such a big deal, people often get scared of change. |

This is one of the reasons why I don't Ebay, and do not do similar things in real world. |

As someone who only ever uses eBay to buy things, I can imagine the only difference it will make to me is a hike in delivery charges to cover the extra charges from eBay. I base this assumption on the fact that a large number of eBayers already undercharge on item prices, then cover themselves with a hefty delivery price (eg- memory stick for 2.99, delivery 19.99). |
