Yay! Internet Explorer 8 Beta 1 is out

The improvements seem to be many in that big puppy weighing in the 10-15mb. But to be fair, it's now almost two browsers in one : IE7 and IE8.

Will have a look at it later.

Looks like they fixed alpha PNGs + CSS opacity combined, which is nice (before, alpha parts of PNGs would render sort of like 1-bit transparency, they didn't "recursively" calculate opacity properly I guess.)

I'm noting some display bugs on a lot of big sites, it's going to be interesting to see how the 7/8 switch (opt-out) works, and so on. Lots of work for web developer types, anyway.

Oh and also, Slashdot linked the Acid3 test discussion thread here - so the Asylum might be seeing some.. crazy.. traffic levels.
