I've been following the progress of augmented reality systems since the I saw some clumsy 'virtual teapot' demonstrations years ago. The applications for such a system are infinite - imagine the uses in engineering, mechanics, surgical operations, etc. The entertainment value of playing huge-scale Pacman games up and down the aisles of an exhibition hall are undeniable, but the practical applications are where the money really is. Imagine being able to 'see' the organs and blood vessels of the patient on the table in front of you before you've made the first cut. |
