I am using 4 different layers to create a 4 table looking effect, but this does not work in IE 7, which I know is fairly popular. Is just something I should deal with or should I offer another page for users that do not have the latest and greatest browsers? The file is located here: http://getyournotes.com/classes.php

Thanks

You do realize that what you have here is tabular data, therefore you should use a table.

I do realize that, but I wanted to continue to try to use layers. When I tried to create a table for this page everything went haywire so I continued with the layers.

EDIT: Nevermind; went with the table and all seems well now.

Thanks.

Didn't see you edit until now.

I've had a go at your layout and got this page to work fine in IE7, IE8b1, FF3.0.1, OP9.51, SF3.1.2

Oh well. It might be useful anyhow.

You are still missing the other two columns (layers) . Don't know what your remake site is about, but the color scheme has a bit to be desired. -

No, I appreciate the help, but the new tables will do. I will fill them in with data tomorrow. I am quite impressed how you re-did my site that quick though. I guess that comes with the necessity to do it often and consistently. Maybe one day....

I noticed the smiley, but *cough* it's a #@! mockup rushed in about an hour at 3am. Ugly colors are used on purpose, to see where's what and what is what.

... and having a 2, 3, 4 ,7 columns table makes no difference whatsoever. Is that better ?

Sorry for the grumpy_tone^W garbage mouth, I slept ~4 hours and am not looking forward to have a long day at work before taking 7 planes in the next 11 days.

No,

I was just picking at you. I appreciate your help greatly. I am quite imporessesd about the ability to do a mockup that looks identical to what has taken me 'much, much' longer to do. Once again I appreciate the help.

2 comments, slightly off topic from the question at hand

1) It's important to understand that the whole movement away from using tables for layout has nothing to do with tables being undesirable. It's *all* about using the proper tag for the proper purpose. So *not* using a table to present tabular data is just as bad as using a table for something it's not intended for (such as total page layout).

Bottom line is: have a table? code it is a table. A list? code it as a list. A header? code it as a header. Etc etc etc.

2) Layers. Nothing you are doing there has anything to do with layers, any which way you look at it.

FWIW

Also, on an even less related note: go easy on those dashed borders!
