This sounds like a fine example of windows gone sour. Usually I'd suggest restarting the computer but I assume you have tried that already? If you are suspecting the keyboard then try stealing your neighbour's keyboard |

Sometimes unplugging & reconnecting the usb cable helps with such things... might try that with the mouse's cable as well as the two tend to form strange connections over time. |
