hi wolf!
im fairly new to the forums so exuse me if say some thing i shouldnt have. i just couldnt resist commenting on the great photography. its funny how things we usually take for granted and tend to not notice can turn into great pieces of art. great picture.

i like photography as well...i was thinking of getting a nikon dslr....
which camera would you suggest a hobbyist for some good pictures...

Depends on what you can/want to spend.
Even inexpensive cameras today will give good results...focus on technique and composition, less on your equipment.

thanks for the advice sleepingwolf, i ll keep that in mind...i do have a normal cybershot with 7 megapixel, it also gives some really good results but i did want to want to buy a new one.

I like the look of the new Opera beta poi.

SleepingWolf, I notice you've used ISO 400, is that your normal setting, or do you experiment with slower speeds? I wonder how this picture would have turned out with ISO 100.

In general, as you know, the slower the film (the lower the ISO) the better from a resolution perspective...but when you use a telephoto you want to ensure you have enough speed to avoid blur.

From the exif data, I shot at 1/300 second, so yes, I probably could have shot at ISO 200 with a larger aperture (f 5.6).

Having said, good quality DSLRs today are still sharp at high ISOs.


poi: very cool that you can do that from Opera. I still have trouble with the continuous readings....in the old days it would have been a speed of 1/250 and an aperture of f8
