Hi guys, my system seems to have been hit by a battalion of viruses, i'm disabling and uninstalling any unfamiliar/suspicious programs and encountered these (vcrt80.exe, sdsxdsds.exe,dfghjxs.exe) that is running everytime i restart my machine, I have Zonealarm currently blocking it and well I need to find out if anyone knows whether its a virus or just some annoying program.

Its taking my laptop a minimum of 10 min to boot. Winxp sp2, duo core 1.8, 1 gig of ram.

Arghh and yes I just uninstalled Mcafee 8.5 for BitDefender and none has managed to get rid of them.

Help required.

Thanks

nope, none of these run on my system.

old trick is to use the windows security bits to actually remove all rights to the files from anybody (including system), then reboot, get yourself the right to remove them again, and delete them.

There's a free utility from McAfee called 'stinger' which is supposed to beat any viruses that load during bootup. Short of that, disable system restore, boot into safe mode, scan, find files. If it comes down to it, grab a copy of SystemRescueCd, boot it up, mount Windows, delete any files you don't want.

sounds like you have been hit by the Conficker worm. Nasty little bugger. Which means you probably can't get to MS's site or any Anti-Virus sites. Which means you can't get the Stinger that reisio mentioned.

Check out this site. If you possibly do have the conficker virus, let me know and I can email you a PDF on how to get it out manually. Which will allow you to at least patch the system and run a virus scan.

Thanks guys.

Cprompt, checked out the site and apparently its not the Conficker worm as I can see all the images.

reisio, got the stinger, running it after this post.

Btw my antivirus (mcafee) is updating normally and right now I have the DATs for today but still I suffer.

I havent installed a lot of software as the laptop is still pretty new, I'm thinking if this doesnt work out maybe a clean re installation of windows.
