Topic: iphone 3g / as a gps (Page 1 of 1)

hello

can anyone suggest a nice way to use the iphone 3g and its gps while driving?

i don't want to by a standalone gps device that talks and have this nice road view, anyone can suggest an app or an idea on how to use the iphone for navigation without having to use my hands to scroll the map and press the "->" to move to the next location in the trajectory?

This is a much sought-after thing... but alas, only available via commercial software that, reprehensibly, charges by the month/year for subscription.

I have an iPhone and a G1. The G1 has turn-by-turn based navigation freeware available that almost delivers...

Sorry, nothing more to contribute here.

I found a product by Navigon.
I wonder if anyone used it.

OTOH, TomTom plans to release something for the iPhone too, but I don't know when!!!
If I know approx when, perhaps I won't buy Navigon and instead get a TomTom for iPhone.
