Topic awaiting preservation: Mysql Phone numbers (Page 1 of 1)

My question is what is the best way to store a phone number with extension in a mysql database. Should it be a string or a int number?

Certainly a string, or how are you going to encode +49 for a number in Germany in an int?

Keep in mind, you should impose formating rules on a phone number when outputting it.
