Topic awaiting preservation: PHP 5.4 is coming! Asylum, no worky too good with the new codebase (Page 1 of 1)

Hey Kevin,

This is a quick reminder that the final upgrades to PHP 5.4 are coming November 3rd. We hope you have been able to test your sites with that new version, because starting November 3rd, there will be no more extensions for PHP 5.2. Currently, our records show that the following domains will be upgraded from PHP 5.2 to the recommended version, PHP 5.4:

We're updating PHP because:

PHP 5.2 is no longer getting security upgrades from php.net
PHP 5.3 will be unsupported by php.net by the middle of 2015
PHP is well tested, stable, and has been in production on sites since March 2012.
You can check out all the cool features of PHP 5.4 on our wiki.

If your site is not yet compatible with PHP 5.4 or higher, we strongly recommend that you consult your site developer to ensure forward compatibility.

Apparently the Asylum has been breached by a spam bot 'virus'.

Thankfully, it seems to have never goten around to installing it's active part.

It's squashed now, but still - how did it get in?
This bums me out.

Doc: I suggest you check your other sides. It placed something like

in page.php.

Ah hah! I recognize that annoying code, it got into the OZONE site, and was a major pain in the butt to eradicate. I should have realized it had gotten in here as well, but didn't track it down. I think that dreamhost had a server-wide breach, and somebody ran a script that went in looking for closing /html tags, and then inserted it's viagra advertisements there.

I will run a search and see what I can find.

Here's an idea though. I think this has been discussed before but perhaps it's time to close down registration. Maybe replace it with an e-mail address. "OzoneAsylum is now invite-only. If you want to join then drop us a quick note about why you want to join and who you are." Might save a lot of time and help with the cleanliness of the place.

I'm not fundamentally opposed - after all I have to delete a small amount of spam about every couple of weeks.

Great Job, TP!

I think I'm with Arthurio on closing the Asylum's registration. Make your life a bit easier, I guess.
