Who are the inmates?

Who am I? I am a 20 year old who lives in Houston, Tx. I'm giving thought to getting my real estate license and sell houses as the way to make a living, but I dont know yet if i'm going to do that. I am still trying to figure out how I want to really begin my "adult life." It may seem shallow, but I believe the sooner you start making good money and can start investing and storing it way, the better the chance you have of being able to do what you want in life. I paticularly want to get a PhD in History w/ a strong focus on Eastern Europe, Central Asia, and Middle East. The only problem is finding an outlet for all this after I have the degree.

I dont paticular care for the history of Western Europe and anything touching the Mediterrean (except Medieval North Africa). Western European Culture is very well documented and pretty much everything was recorded in some fashion. On the other hand, I almost never hear, or have seen anything on the History of Eastern Europe past the fall of the Roman Empire. For me now, Medieval Eastern Europe has this mysterious vale around it that makes me curious as to what is behind it. The area of Europe in which I speak of is east of present-day Germany & Italy and north of Greece. I dont much care for Russian History, mainly because like Western Europe, I've gotten my fill.

The Middle East is any area of study, while I' sure the recorded history is there, I have never gotten a good feel for it. Everything I ever read or heard was up till the Fall of Rome and then the Crusades, but in the time between those two events and after the Crusade, I really havent learned much. The Medieval Middle East is the teenage years of the "Cradle of Civilization" or atleast I like to think that.

more to come later...
