Like all groups web design does generate a lot of its own jargon and nothing is more confusing than our need for sackfuls of acronyms.

CSS - Cascading StyleSheets - a language created to help separate presentation from structure (the structure being controlled by (X)HTML).
HSBoD - Horizontal ScrollBar of Doom - the product of making your site too large for screen resolutions.
HTML - HyperText Markup Language - the basis of what we do here.
XHTML - eXtensible HyperText Markup Language - the application of XML to HTML.
XML - eXtensible Markup Language - a flexible human readbale language for marking up data.
