What does the error "Cannot Use Object Linking and Embedding" that I get when using Word or Excel mean?

It probably means there is something wrong with the VBScript which is possibly caused by a virus like MS Blaster but it may also be that there is a simpler solution.

If you have updated your virus definitions and searched for the virus and you computer is clear try rebooting in safe mode and the rebooting in normal mode - this seems to fix most lingering problems.
