There are a number of reserved IPs for various reasons (note: * is used as the wildcard in the IP address and stand fo any number between 0 and 255): --- There are one set of reserved addresses for 'private' networks for each IP address class: Class A: 10.*.*.* Class B: 172.16.*.* - 172.31.*.* Class C: 192.168.*.* --- The loopback/localhost address: 127.0.0.1 - although the whole rnage is reserved: 127.*.*.* --- The zero addresses can also not be used: 0.*.*.* --- Microsoft APIPA (Automatic Private Internet Protocol Addressing) also reserves a set of IPs: 169.254.*.* _____________________ [internallink=4626]Emperor[/internallink] [small][i](Added by: [url=http://www.ozoneasylum.com/cgi-bin/ubbmisc.cgi?action=getbio&UserName=Emperor]Emperor [/url] on Fri 02-Apr-2004)[/i][/small]
