I'm going to assume Emps meant Phineas Fogg, which would lead me to believe that he is referring to the protagonist of Jules Verne's "Around the World in 80 Days," thus implying that krets is an accomplished world traveler. Either that or he is an anal retentive chap who makes outrageous wagers. Not sure which.

Emps: Interesting... I was sure it was Phineas. After examining some of the results from Google ("Around the world in 80 days" + Phineas / "Around the world in 80 days" + Phileas), it appears that Phineas may have been the name of the character in the movie version, while Phileas may have been the original name in the novel. It's been so long since I've read the book that I'll be darned if I can remember which is which. I could dig further to find out the truth, but I'm just not sufficiently motivated.

At any rate, it's definitely not Phillius...

On that note, did anyone else ever get bothered when it was revealed that your character was the one who committed the murder? Or was it just me?

And then there is always the logical contradiction of discovering that your character is the murderer, yet you have to reveal yourself to win the game. Wouldn't it be much more interesting if, once you found out that you were the murderer, you had to go around and make sure you were never discovered?

Unfortunately TX is huge, so as far as me being there is concerned there would have to be some people in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. Oh, and yeah I do thrive on mystery. I thought yall would get the idea when I said I stole krets thread idea, but I hope this makes things clear, peace.

Sorry, I didnt intend on all the fun. Its just that I live in the metroplex here and ive never seen this much ice/snow all over the place and there are these rubermaid plastic bins(fairly large) and some streets on big hills, and yeah ive been outside quite a bit. Im quite soar now. After smacking into curbs, then continueing to roll on the curb, and hitting a stop sign, im in some pain. It hurts to rotate my shoulder. Pain just shoots down my back. Big fun though. I would recomend sliding down city streets in big plastic bins to anyone. Just wear a leather jacket, cause when you are rolling/flipping along a curb you want some protection from the concrete and ice. And other materials will most likely rip.

You want to talk ice? Let's talk ice.

As some may not know, I work with the morning news at CBS in Dallas-Fort Worth. (The studio is actually in Fort Worth.)

Ice started to hit Monday night. I got a call at 7 PM telling me to be in at 2 AM. I normally get there around 4 AM.

I drove to work the next morning, and with the ice on the highway, it took me 45 minutes to travel what normally takes me 15. We did our normal morning show from 5 AM to 7 AM and cut-ins from 7 to 9. Ice ice ice. Don't go to work. Yadda yadda yadda.

Next was the noon show. Ice ice ice.

Then came the calls from crew saying they weren't coming in. I was asked to stay. Sure, why not.

While normally we do two half-hour shows at 5 and 6, management decided we should also do a special one-hour 4 o'clock. An hour and a half from 4 to 5:30, then back again at 6 for another half hour. Ice ice ice. Weather weather weather. Traffic traffic traffic.

I finally left at 6:45 PM after working almost 17 hours. It took me an hour to get home, I ate some soup, got about 5 hours sleep and was back to work again at 4 AM after an even longer drive, because by then the ice was worse. Almost couldn't make it up the hill into the parking lot. (Some people got stuck after sliding back down.)

Then, get this, we go on at 5 AM, as usual, but stayed on for 5 hours straight. Ice ice ice. Ice ice ice. Ice ice ice. Didn't even get fed. Didn't even get a lunch break. (The evening crew got two meals, courtesy CBS 11, as they also did the night before.)

The roads, at least where I was going, were a little better by 12:45 when I went home. Only took me a half hour to do a 15-minute drive.

Then I slept. Then I ate. Then I slept again.

[i]Edit typo: "Norming" show"? What the hell's a "norming" show?

Skaarjj - The Metroplex is a strange term used in reference to greater Dallas-Fort Worth. From what I've read, it's unique to the area. Although the origin of the term is difficult to determine, it's apparently a combination of the informal metro (metropolitan) and the suffix plex (divided into a specified number of parts).

Heh...funnily enough, the American Heritage Dictionary uses DFW in its definition of metropolitan:

quote:
Of or constituting a large city or urbanized area, including adjacent suburbs and towns: the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area; a metropolitan county.
