*grin* I've noticed this everywhere. The people that do like Linkin Park pretty much balance out the people that don't. Which just further supports my belief that at one point, everything gets balanced. I'll be following Bugs & WS now. But I will state that I think their first album won't be outshone by anything else they put out.

Linkin Park sounds like someone took NSync, made them listen to Tool albums, then gave them access to a studio...
As for the "I don't care" group, it's true that the Apathetic lobby is one of the least effective in history...

LMAO^^
At first, I hated them, still do. Only one song appealed to me though, it was that first one they came out with... Closer to the edge or something.
I really do wish they would go away, it seems to me like they're becoming more of a pop-rock band, with altered instruments. Really annoying...

There's no variation in music anymore. Everything being put out now is being morphed into Pop Music within minutes of hitting the shelf. I don't care if they still use the genre separators at the music store. It's all starting to sound the same.

i like them actually, then again i also like evanescence (which i started listening to just before MTV started mercilessly pimping them everywhere, just fyi) who i've heard described as "linkin park with a chick" which does make a certain amount of sense.
while i thought hybrid theory was good, i actually REALLY like their reanimation cd, which is remixes of hybrid theory by other artists. while this type of album is generally crap, reanimation actually has some really good ideas happening throughout the different songs.

I have Hybrid Theory around here somewhere and I think I have some reanimation my friend lent me... I enjoyed the animated video they included on that cd-rom... a little too much like FF:SW though.
LP drops right into that pseudo-industrial pop category. I enjoy some of their songs, but I wouldn't say that they are one of my favorite bands. Sounds more like a NIN knock-off than nsync to me though. Haven't heard anything off the new album, radio stations here only play the same 3 hip-hop songs over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over. ..... and over.
Along that vein, what do you think of Queen's of the Stone Age? Or how about a different vein, anyone listen to the White Stripes? Tell me they aren't trying to sing like the Ramones but dress like the Cure. Admitedly I like a couples of their songs, and I love that Lego video, but then, I like anything with Legos in it. hehe
It's only after we've lost everything...

I think Jestah just about sums up my thoughts:
quote: I don't have feelings one way or the other about them, other then all there songs sound the same. I wouldn't buy the CD but I wouldn't change the station if it came on the radio.
Like InSiDeR:
quote: At first, I hated them, still do. Only one song appealed to me though, it was that first one they came out with... Closer to the edge or something.
I heard 'Closer to the Edge' and thought it was OK and then I heard the next song and the next song and they all feel like they were written to the same formula and I just couldn't be bothered with them after that. I don't hate them I just feel:
1. That there are hundreds of better bands out there and I feel like I am wasting my time listening to them.
2. Disappointed as there is potential there to really push the envelope and try something different and they haven't.
That said it is clearly a formula that works and they have made vast amounts o cash and have legions of devoted fans so what does my opinion matter.
Yannah: That is a sad story, however, you should be cautious about such tales until they are independently confirmed. I'm not saying this story is a hoax but there are people out there who pull such unpleasant pranks just o get a reaction.
By the way you can copy and paste URLs from the address bar so you don't have to rewrite them (highlight and right click).

I heard the 2nd song and said "ewww."

and that about sums it up. If it is in my power to do so, I change the station when they come on. =)
