I think it is time to do come spring cleaning on my computer.... my C drive is 72% full hehehe. I know that some ways are good ways to clean things out... like going though my old folders and deleting old art work and defragging the drive, but what else could free up some space? Any of you know of any good progs to help clean things up? I have a 40 gig drive with XP home on it. Also any good programs for defragging other than xp's defragger? BTW... have not defragged in about 8 months... (talk about miss procrastination...) |

On the topic of defragging, I bought Norton Utilities and started using its defrag program, and it defrags my 20GB drive in about an hour, rather than the eight hour, overnight job required of Win98s defrag program. How XPs defrag differs, I can't say, but Norton worked great for me. |

Well XP once estimated to defrag my 80 GB HDD it would take 3.4 days... |

If you just switch to NTFS in XP you don't have to defrag. Also I would stay away from cleanup programs. If you really want to do some spring cleaning the best medicine is always a fresh install of Windows. |

Actually, even if you do use NTFS, you still need to defrag every so often. Although it does a decent job of keeping files from fragmenting, it's far from perfect, and not as efficient as M$ marketing would like you to believe. |

I'd save all your worthwhile files to a CD and then just do a clean install. |

I'm with silence. You sstill have to defrag NTFS, although not quite as often as a FAT drive. |

Wolfen, being a lady doesn't automatically mean you don't like porn. Hell, the second most fanatic porn collector I know happens to be female. |
