I think I still have 20Gb to spare. Double that if I get rid of some downloaded stuff (cleaning up the temporary internet files often helps it down with a GB or so, too)

My two HDD's collectivley have 90GB free on them.

Just to clarify for you, Yannah, the CPU is your central processing unit, the power of which is measured in MHz, although there are GHz processors now.

GB are a measure of space on your hard drive(s). And if you went from 3 GB to 11 GB, you deleted something massive.

Which is it you're referring to?

I guess if we're talking hard drives the breakdown is as follows:

1 x 20GB drive full
1 x 10GB drive full
1 x 60GB drive with about 1GB left
1 x 80GB drive with about 17GB left
1 x 40GB with a few hundred MB left
1 x 10GB drive with about 2GB left

Oh, and not to mention the approximately 200GB of network storage I have here and there.

Gotta love being a sysadmin.

on the whole "hey i just found 8 gigs" issue - on my computer at school the recycle bin limit must have been increased or something because last week i ventured into the ol' bin looking for any bit of space on the 60 gig drive that I could, and found something like 17 gigs in the bin!! i still had to use an external firewire hdd so i could capture about 50 gigs of dv projects

After reading Lurch's post, I decided to go into my Recycle Bin and see how much stuff I had in there... 832 megs. So now that's all cleared up... (leaving me with 5.46 GB left on my "Files" drive and 18.7 GB left on my "Programs" drive--I think I may wipe everything out after this semester and rethink my partition...).

Looks like about 90GB free overall.

Actually, both the RAID disks are simply partitions on the same 20GB Raid array, running off my little Sun Cobalt Qube. Between Malin's machine and mine I think we have about 300+ Gigs, I lose track. (Not just of how much, but also of "what's there", heh.)

Ack! Gotta fix that link, I think the most up-to-date version would be at www.gravlabs.com - (Note: Help! I am addicted to new domain names! There must be a self-help group somewhere? Oh yeah, already here.) I'm still in Sweden, and the way we're moving along we'll still be here by Autumn, shite like this is *complicated*, what with selling our flat, moving our cats and most treasured furniture (as little of that as possible!) and miscellaneous what-nots. Oh yeah, and work, how could I forget that? At least I actually finished one of my contracts, now I'm only double-booked, hoo-ray! =)

Like Doc, I have an addiction. However, mine is to massive redundancy. (I have only 4 domain names.)

Main PC (Name: Wretched Excess)
C: (37.2 GB) 30.6 GB Free (System & Installed Software)
F: (74.5 GB) 52.1 GB Free (User Files & Art, Music, Software and Technical Libraries)
G: (37.2 GB) 9.45 GB Free (Paging & Temp)
H: (74.5 GB) 28.7 GB Free (Archives and Disk Images)
- (223.4 G) 120.85 GB Free

Development (Local) Web Server and Backup Repository (Name: Breezy)
C: (12.6 GB) 11.2 GB Free (System, Installed Software, Webs, Paging & Temp)
E: (37.2 GB) 10.7 GB Free (Disk Images)
F: (38.2 GB) 2.69 GB Free (Archives [Periodic WinZip "snapshots" going back 3 years])
-- (88.0 GB) 24.59 GB Free

Spare (Local) Web Server (Name: Tired Cow)
C: (2.01 GB) 1.02 GB Free (System, Installed Software, Recent Copies of Webs)
E: (1.00 GB) 0.22 GB Free (Paging & Temp)
-- (3.01 GB) 1.24 GB Free

Total (314.41 GB) 146.68 Free (Which is right about where I like it, between a third and a half free.)

I'm using less than 0.5 GB of 10 GB disk quota on one leased web server (for hosted clients only) and about 1 GB on another leased web server (my playpen) which has no disk quota.

Call me anal retentive, but I've lost less than a floppy's worth of data in 15 years. I have all email going back to 1992 and other user files going back to 1987.
