anyone know what this is?

new house, this is in one of the rooms, the four little holes have a spring in each apparently. Looks like you might plug speaker into it or something but the wires coming into the back of it are single coppers, red, yellow and green

Sorry about the irrelevant drivel but I'm stumped and there's all kinds runnin through here...

thanks

tres beesarre

this house was built in the 60s or 70s I would say and the previous owner was a bit of a "jackmaster", everything is wired, cable, dsl filters, ethernet cable, remote control ceiling fans and all kindsa weird crap. I assumed this was yet another thing he put in. Now I gotta fnd out what's on the other end of it, should be interesting =)

thanks old folks

hmm... I wonder if he was some sort of old equipment buff. The jack looks wierd but I wonder if the wire behind are the standard phone twisted pairs. Maybe he had some old school phone that he could still use.

Rip the damn thing off and replace it with a standard RJ-12 Plug.

Yup, I've seen places here in Korea that still have those kind of jacks... I've even lived in some of them.

not standard twisted pairs, nope, 3 wires, single copper strand, fairly heavy guage by today's standards. Since it's in my 2.5 year old boy's room I think I'll follow it and yank it out, maybe use it to snake a cat5 through the same route or something since there's a big hole in the wall
