Hey, I was just wondering if there's a way to turn off that auto preview thing in explorer, it's great for pictures, but with a lot of the movies that I have it doesn't work and screws up explorer.exe when it tries to preview them. It'd be nice to be able to turn it off just for movies. Anyone know how to do this?

maninacan: yea feel the pain... installed MS media player 9, I highlighted a quicktime file.... boom computer dies..... don't yea love MS .

Anyway try:

Control Panel>folder options and click on "use windows classic folders" and apply. That will get rid of the preview side bar thingy all together. So no hang ups and things when light lighting files (like quicktime mov's).

Don't know how to stop MS media player form previewing file it's not linked with. Like I have quicktime to be associated with .mov files and have click off MS media player to not associated with .mov files, still it tries to read it and crashes or hangs.

Copey: SOmewhere in the many options of MP is an option 'automatically try and retake file associations' so it automatically tries to reassosciate files with itself if they're changed by another program...turn it off and all your files should then start going through QT
