That could very well be due to the fact that the controls do copius amounts of SUCKING. bad bad bad.

No elves? Then Legolas was just a figment of my imagination? I suppose next you'll be telling us that there were no dwarves either.

But yeah, the game sucks pretty badly...

Yeah, I know, I was just busting your chops.

I was also dismayed by the appearance of the troop of Elves at Helm's Deep. Faithfulness to the book aside (which, let's face it, isn't absolutely necessary or even possible in making a movie), it almost cheapens the victory, as if Men alone wouldn't have been able to hold out. But that's another story entirely...

though i enjoy the movie(s) --you should really regard the movies as a seperate entity from the books... because they are so much not alike that its hard to compare.

-And yes, there were no elves, save legolas. They cut out the whole Paths of the Dead part, which in-turn is going to screw up the end of the movie completely. So yeah, jackson can suck a dwarf penis IMO

Um, "The Passing of the Grey Company" part hasn't happened yet. That appears in the third book. For that matter, some of the stuff that happened at the end of the second book wasn't in the second movie either, like Shelob, and Frodo's capture. I can't imagine that Jackson would cut the Grey Company from the movies, as it is crucial to the story, and especially crucial to Aragorn's story, which Jackson seems to be giving a lot of attention to (more so than the books, I think).

You are right--the books and the movies are different. That being said, I still disagree with Jackson's decision to introduce Elves to Helm's Deep, for the reason I noted above. It has occurred to me, though, that he may have wanted to emphasize the weakness of men to support Aragorn's loss of faith in his race, and make his ultimate return to his destiny that much more emotional.

Or maybe I'm just over-analyzing this... I have a tendency to do that sometimes...

No... the elves are in Helms Deep because hundreds of elvish archers unloading on thousands of orcish hoardes made for a COOL battle scene. Even though all the elves kind of looked like RuPaul in armor. I do love the plot point style failure too. The elves have been hitting every conceivable target blindfolded... but our hero, Legolas, can't pick off one giant enemy illuminated by a huge sparkler? c'mon. That chariots of fire run was just too much... I could almost hear the music. hehe

No, it's not the same as the book... you'll have to wait for the Extra Special Super Enhanced Double Über Multi Mega Geek Collectors Revised Remaster DVD for that. I think it's scheduled to come out some time in 3015.

I have to say I'm glad I chose not to re-read the LOTR books before the movies came out. While I rememeber a lot of the books. Since I read them first (some 15 years ago) I'm able to watch the movie in awe without worrying about plot differences.

Yes, the game has this problem where you get hit when you're not touching anytihng... and you can't turn to face an approaching enemy, or else you get too close to it.

If I may go back to the movie for a moment...

MindBender: Actually, every one of Legolas' arrows hit the brute carrying the "sparkler," he just didn't go down. I suppose one could argue that he should have just shot him in the eye, but that would've been somewhat anti-dramatical. I can't imagine Jackson doing something like that, especially considering the fact that he was willing to distort a major plot point just to have hundred of RuPaul clones in armor shooting at orcs... Not that that wasn't immensely cool, of course. And watching the wall blow up was also immensely cool.

Oh and, um, the game sucks... oh, did I say that already? Sorry.
