Umm...I need some help. I just bought a 160 gig Western Digital HD (Ultra DMA 100) HD, and it came with a controller card, since it is over 137 gigs. In any case, I stick the controller card in, and it won't work. I've looked on the web-site (my PCI bus is 32 bit, so no problem there). The problem is that windows won't recognize it. It's not hooked up to the Hard Drive, because that makes it even messier and you get double the problems (you have to install the controller first). I did a have disk with new drivers off the internet, and still nothing. I go to there site, and it says to look under SCSI and RAID controllers, but, since it won't recognize that it's there, I'm out of luck.

Just wondering if anyone insight as to why it isn't working, or tips on how to make it work?

what windows? did it say that it recognized a new device? tried to use hardware/search for new hardware?
did the bios list the new pci card whilst booting? Why don't you just put the drive onto the mainboards ata controller and see if it supports 160 drives... worst thing that can happen is that a) the bios crashes. Nohuhu, turn off, unplug harddisk. Or it might only find 160 mod 128 gb or something like that.... still, windows 2000+ might be able to use all of it.

so long,

It only uses 137 of the total 160 gigs. I tried doing a search for hardware...Nothing. It didn't say that it recognized the device. IT's windows 2000. When I hooked it to the onboard controller it finds the drive, but it won't access it. The thing is, that it works in an older computer that I have (well...my dad has) upstairs.

What are the specs on that older computer?

1ghz, 2gigs DDR ram, 60 gig 7200 SCSI drive, random SCSI controller (fairly anonymous, doesn't have a brand name on the box, haven't looked up the model number), 32 MB geforce2, WinXP, ASUS motherboard, random stuff.

try flashing your mainboard bios... that should get you fixed up. Beware of power failures, though.
