Yep, I saw the movie...it wasn't bad, IMHO.

Good things : Nightcrawler was done very well, IMHO. Ok, they overdid his religious aspect a bit...but on the whole, well-done.
Prof. X : It was nice to see ol' Charles not stealing the show...and a more...'human' side, from Magnus...hehe...
Storm was done much better in this film...she actually came across as the 'weather Goddess'...it was about time...
Wolfie going bezerk on the troopers in the house...that was a shocker (he actually killed those soldiers!). Very well done.
Clearly showing the human/mutant seperation...a visit to middle-class America (Bobby's house). Typical WASPish way of denial - 'Just stop being a mutant!' Nice touch...

Bad things : Deathstrike. I was terribly disappointed in how they portaited her. Unforgivable in my book. Walk around, like a bad-ass...till the end, get an a**-whooping from Wolvie...no, that was not Deathstrike. Now she's dead...and Deathstrike wasn't 'just like Wolverine'...
Colosus - Wha? I wanted more! *sulks*
The 'teenies' - I never did like the new mutants much...and certainly not in the film. Blah!
No Juggernaut - Where's Marko Cain? Dammit, I wanted Jugs to be in the film...oh well, maybe the 3rd film...

Not sure : Jean Grey. In the comics, she did become unstable, shortly before the...transition, if you will (Want to know more? Read the comics!) to Phoenix, then the change to Dark Phoenix. And during that time, she did have...emotional...turbulence, if you will...and yes, Wolvie was somewhat...involved. I'm glad that this was kept within...limits, in the film. I did like how they showed her powers getting stronger (and a bit erratic). At the end, one can see the phoenix halo in the lake...can't wait for the 3rd film! I'm waiting to see how they do Phoenix - as Ini mentioned, the most powerful of all mutants (well...maybe Dark Phoenix is more powerful). I wonder if they will show her turn to the 'dark' side...probably. Though I doubt that they will follow the comic on this one...hehe...no end-battle on the moon...or maybe...well, we'll see.

All in all, I liked the film...except for the 'teenies', it was much better than the first one, IMHO. I liked how they kept the same actors. The story was good (Take that, Stryker!), special effects were classy...but the story was much, much better...both in the following (and showing) of it, and the characters. Only the total...lack of detail on Deathstrike...that was a bummer.

I thought they did a fine job on the movie. Didn't make Wolverine hold back any on this one.

There are some instances of the new comic line (Ultimate X-men) in the movie. The "thing" between Wolverine and Jean is a lot greater in the Ultimate X-men than before. But, all in all it was a really good movie IMHO.

Almost reached the quality of the amazing "Spiderman" movie, at least, it was
something that surely will end up in my dvd collection.

I think X-men 2 was way better. Don't point me on anything, but I liked the diversity better, not focusing on a single character. The donwside to this is that not much depth can be given to certain characters (like the relationship between Mystique and Nightcrawler) but as long as you keep in mind that the movie and the comic universe aren't quite the same it's a very enjoyable movie. Naturally the special effect budget was quite a bit higher than spiderman, but that's not a bad thing. At all. They even got some story in there. Like Webshaman said, it was a nice touch to show how 'normal' people handle the issue. (I went to see it with a gay friend, she quite enjoyed the line "have you tried not to be a mutant?" ... And for some discussion; is there any info on Bobby Drake's brother? Anyone think he's a closet mutant?
From the line of 'new guys', I liked Nightcrawler the best. Too bad that in the whole movie he says that he's from the Munich circus, while on the circus poster in the movie it clearly states that he's from the Berlin circus. But that's just nitpicky.

And I love how Hugh Jackman plays Wolverine.

(oh, and I don't really want a discussion in the vein of "I thought spiderman was better!", I just wanted to state my opinion.)

WS - Dunno what movie you saw but I saw one where Deathstrike was kicking the crap out of Wolverine until he was barely able to stab her with that Adamantium hose.

ooh man... that was one of the most painfull fights i have ever seen...

just.... they kept stabbin and healin... and stabbig and YOUCH!

I am not up on the comics... but the film was quite enjoyable. Special effects were amazing. I guess one of the problems they run into is having so many lead roles to fill... makes it hard to have good charecter developement on all of em.

Anywhoo... A lot of fun to watch... The intro with NIghtcrawler was by far the best bit of the movie.

Aah when he gets shot in the head its so unrealistic that he would die. he has an admantium skull for chrissakes but other than that i thought it was really good. I like that they let Wolverine kill people instead of like nicking them. Not because i like killing people its just more true to the character. And i wanted more collosus too. his history is really interesting. o well maybe theyll go into that more in the next movie

all I can say is .. Nightcrawler is my hero .. lol .. he has always been my favorite X-men and always will .. though Wolverine is a close second

Deathstrike wasn't quite as power in the movie as she is in the comic .. but that's ok .. it's movie .. and well the Wolverine always wins .. you can't complain about that .. just because of Wolv's tude!

some mutants I could do without .. ok just one .. Pyro .. he had the cheeziest lines and his scene with him blowing up cars and what not .. I just didn't care for .. and him playing with that lighter constantly became annoying after awhile

The subtle hints and Jean Grey becoming Phoenix was GREAT! .. but in the comic books she didn't become phoenix for YEARS .. so for the director to hint at the Phoenix stage for Jean already .. I think is a little premature .. X-men can surely be one of those 6 Episodes type of movie and where Phoenix doesn't come out until Episode 5 .. and Dark Phoenix out in 6 .. but that is just IMHO

Mutants I could do to see more of .. Colossus .. a more grown up Rogue(I don't like the fact that she isn't kicking butt yet and she is running away from conflict .. that isn't the Rogue I hold dear to my heart) .. I love to see Beast, Gambit, Jubilee, Juggernaut, Sabertooth, and you know what Magneto

X2 gets my TWO PILLS UP!

Okay...my 'beef' with Lady Deathstrike (as portayed in the film) - from the Marvel Universe :

Lady Deathstrike

Real Name: Yuriko Oyama
Universe/Timeline: Marvel Universe
Current Status:
Aliases: Yuriko Darkwind
Nationality: Japanese
First Appearance: Alpha Flight (1st series) #33

Powers and Abilities:
altered by Spiral's Body Shoppe to gain augmented strength, speed, agility, stamina, and reflexes, extendible razor edged talons, conducts electromagnetic charges through her bio-mechanical parts

Affiliations:
Reavers

Notes: Deathstryke's father, Lord Darkwind, conceived the adamantium bonding process used on Wolverine, Sabretooth, and Bullseye.

Lady Deathstrike never had bonded Admantium in her body...and isn't a mutant at all. She becomes a cyborg, after Wolvie mutilated her...and has been a constant thorn in his side.

Now, maybe in the film, Stryker 'augmented' her body with Adamantium...but how he managed to do that, without Lady Deathstrike having regenrative properties, is beyond me...maybe Stryker also found a way to give her regenerative properties...or make her into a mutant (though that is stretching it). Point is, the character was basically just 'thrown into' the film as a 'proper' opponent for Wolvie...and the fight scene wasn't all that good, IMHO. I never really got the impression, that Wolvie was in danger of losing...but whatever.

Now, in the film, Stryker says that because of Lady Deathstrike, Wolvie is 'nothing unique'...but then, who can believe the words of Stryker? However, Lady Deathstrike did seem to have almost all of Wolvies abilities...I find that...pretty cheesy.

With the 'solution' that Wolvie used, Lady Deathstrike is gone forever, from the film scene...too bad.

Other than that, I liked the film...

As for Iceman (Bobby Drake)...in the comics, he doesn't have a brother...so no telling if in the film his 'borther' is a mutant, or not...
