The poster has demanded we remove all his contributions, less he takes legal action.
We have done so.
Now Tyberius Prime expects him to start complaining that we removed his 'free speech' since this message will replace all of his posts, past and future.

Ah, that old joke.
I remember the media coverage about this a few years back, people signing petitions and all... not getting the joke.
(the tastefulness of the joke might however be questioned...)

THat's odd. I received this "Oh my god look what have they done someone help those poor things" mail about four years ago for the first time. Then it went away, but now it seems to be back again, because recently someone who hadn't yet caught up with it mailed it to me (and x-ty others), convinced it was real. Luckily it's not. It's just an exemple of a very succesful hoax ^^

I'd say it's not a hoax, just a joke. They're not trying to actually fool anyone. It's simple silliness.

yeh.. that's how
quote: lobstah@amway.com Months ago, you have masterfully shaped my kitten into a trapezoid; however, now, the 45-degree angle on the tail side is weakining, making her more of a rhombus than anything. Although, I could reinforce the front side with the angular clamps you sell, I'm afraid she might turn out to be a parallelogram. Any tips?
We would be happy to surgically restore the crisp angles to your cherished pet. In fact, you may have forgotten that we provide a lifetime warranty on the shape of your Bonsai Kitten. Please, pack the Kitten into the shipping container that we will send to you via special express, and we will contact you shortly with a time estimate for the repairs.

Ahh, so that settles it. It was a hoax after all, and not a joke.

Well, in my opinion, it still was not a hoax, as it was so obviously outrageous that it could never have been intended to actually fool anyone.
Seriously -- who in his right mind would think you can shape kittens by stuffing them into glass jars or that anyone would sell them that way or promote such a practice? Using a little sense, anyone should realize it's a ridiculous joke.

Was doing a little research for another book proposal I'm trying to start. Can't seem to come up with an angle and was exploring the "prank" aspect.
I eluded to this idea in a post some time ago ... maybe I should consult the Asylum again. >thinking, thinking<
