Yay. Too bad it'll be outdated in six months

That's some impressive specs right there. I'm still stuck with a 1Ghz historical relic, but if it's stupid and it works it ain't stupid.

Completely unrtelated; does anyone think that at some point we're all going to switch to those flat screens? I don't know. Maybe if they figure out a way to mass-produce those babies like they do with 'normal' TV's right now.. it might.

Perhaps once they get rid of all those CRTs they got laying around the warehouse... at some point, the prices will come down on those bad boys!

What I wouldn't give for a 1Ghz! I'm still working on a Celeron P3 equiv. w/600Mhz! I feel extraordinarily slow now...

(This new Dell at work is spoiling me for my own machine - and it's not even that great!)

I just got a flat screen with my machine here at work. I had to switch back to a CRT fo design- to much contrast. The thing had no subtlety in the whites.

Congrats man, I Know the feeling. I was euphoric when I replaced my 333-mhz iMac with my 2-ghz Sony. That Apple antique is now a server (I really had to restrain myself from throwing that Mac P.O.S. out the window).

Real nice, Morph. At 2.4 gigs it should be fast.

I have a flat screen for my cube. It took some getting used to; but now, I would not trade it for anything. The hardest thing was not the contrast but the fact that the image is now flat. I was so used to seeing things curved that everything looked wrong at the edges.

Congrats, must be a joy to play with!

I'm stuck here with a celeron 600 overclocket to 900Mhz, and I won't get money for anything new in a loong time. But Linux and War3 runs without problems, so I'm happy

"Stuck with 600MHz, 900Mhz, 1GHz"?

sticks tongue out at ya'll...

133MHz is what it's all about. (Also recently got a 333MHz from an uncle that was moving...)

That might be why I spend so much time in the research lab, especially now that I get to start playing with our new server (2.8GHz and 6 - 73GB HDD's (438GB ))

Hope you enjoy the newfound speed, he says green with envy

[edit: I might have to get a couple pictures of The Cluster that one of the research teams threw together this spring. Last specs on it: 1.5TB (1500GB), 1.3TB are freespace, and a processor equivalent to 40 - Pentium 233MHz processors.

Congratulations Morph! Thats good news. I'm hoping to build a new computer before I go back to school. I've been researching stuff for a while, all I have to do is actually buy EVERYTHING

Hmmmm.... I dont like those pre built machines, they seem too, well how can i say it, too commercialised for my liking.

I have a custom built server tower that houses 8 HD's on two separate raids. Totalling 380 gig of space, Athlon XP 2100+ ( 1.7 gig )

My pride and joy is my Mitsubishi Diamond 22" monitor, those flat screens are crap for graphical work from my experiences, its almost as if they have TOO much detail.

Your computer looks nice, i will say that much, but not something i would have gone out and bought.

I'm sorry krets !! I suppose it all depends on what you use your computer for mainly, its probably a very good all rounder.

I've always planned to build my new dream pc but aside from finding the time, the way prices have come down recently i thought i may as well just get an off the shelve job. my previous pc was a dell PIII 500hz which did everything I wanted to but since my playstation packed up i decided it would be better for the kids to play games on the pc so i had to get something with some grunt under the hood.
