I ran across this website looking for How to count to 32 on one hand and I am hooked... I refuse to leave until I achieve everything he describes and read ever last of his Mind Ramblings

...This interesting stuff and paints an interesting picture on how technology will co-exist with mankind in the years to come.

Interesting but some of his stuff seems really far off.

Like talking about death being eradicated within the next one hundred years.

Geez. If anything, it would be the rich people who would benefit from it since the medical companies are probably going to milk as much as they can from everyone before actually giving them something that really works.

Also, war will never cease. There will always be problems because humans will conflict and so on.

I am asexual, neither male nor female.

Okay, so how do you get to 32 on one hand? Did you ever find out?

Wang, I'm assuming binary.
2^5 = 32

I don't want to seem stupid, but I had already considered binary, and doesn't five bits only go up to 31? I mean: 1 + 2+ 4 + 8 + 16 = 31, and the sixth bit would be 32, right? Am I confused on this, or is it the world?

[Edit: Ah, I see now. You have 32 numbers in five bits, but strictly speaking (taking the numbers as they are), you can only count to 31...]

Evil in theory, not so much in practice...

Yes, but my point is that, in binary, 000001 = 32, not 111110, which equals 31.

I'm splitting hairs, I know, but even the web page you guys pointed to says you're counting to 31...

Nice link, never thought of counting binary with my fingers before

You're only counting to 31, but you're counting 32 numbers.

Anyway, counting to 32 on one hand ...
no fingers = 0+1 = 1
little finger alone = 1+1 = 2
second finger alone = 2 + 1 = 3
and so on ...
voila by the addition of the dimwit constant we get - One hand Counting 1-32 (for the digitally challenged)

and for the real nerdy smartypants ... did you try it in 2's complement arithmetic yet?? ...

Well, heck... if we're going to start counting at 'one', why stop there? Just start with 32 and get it over with...
