Hi guys,

How do i set up a multiple dual boot with Redhat Linux 8, Windows XP pro and FreeBSD 4.8 Release?? Have you guys ever did this?? If you have, Can you give me step by step instructions on how to do this?? Currently i have a dual boot right now with Windows XP pro and Redhat Linux 8. I don't have FreeBSD 4.8 installed on my computer but i will tell you how i partition it.

Windows XP- I gave it about 45% or more.

Redhat Linux 8- /boot 50 megs, / 3gigs or more and swap 2x my ram.

FreeBSD 4.8 Release- / 100 megs, swap 2-3x ram, /var 50 megs and /usr Rest of disk.

Are them partitions too big?? I tryed doing it both ways dual boot and multiple dual boot with FreeBSD. When i create the / for 100 megs it's too big. Please reply back with some help. Thank You guys.

It's the same principal as setting up a standard dual boot system...install XP first, then on a seperate drive (or a seperate primary partition formatted to the correct format) you install red hat, then back to XP, and on another drive or partition install free BSD...you can install as many as you like (well, actually as many as you can create primary partitions) and it just gets added to the boot menu.

Now, while we like to help people around here we aren't just going to do the hard work for you. You were given a resource for it, it's then up to you find out what you can for it and come back with specific questions, not just "Help me do this"...more like "When I install linux I have X problem"...that's the kind of question we like.

The fourth link on the first page from the above google link is this: Black Viper's Multiple OS Installation Guide. Now use that 500gr of grey mass underneath your hair to do the rest.

Did you look at the link yet??? You only have to partion once. And you can do this with any os. I personaly like the Knoppix cd for these things. Just boot from cd and prepare the comp from there.

Well, look at it this way - if you can't figure out what he's talking about when he says "go read the information in that link", perhaps going about implementing a multiple boot setup isn't something you should be doing just yet.

Now, how about going and reading the information given to you for a while, and if don't know what they're talking about - read it again, or find more info on the subject you don't understand.

If you have a more specific question - after doing a little work for yourself - come on back and ask it.

I think i'm going set it up my way but then if i do that then i get errors. / partition is too big for 1ooMB or no swap partition. I do not have room for a swap partition. Can you tell me how to set up FreeBSD for a beginner and a first time user without any of my partitions being too big?? Please reply back.

Dual and Multi Booting FreeBSD, Linux, and OpenBSD
Dual Boot with Windows XP and FreeBSD

Re-read all the information given on this site until you have a basic understanding of what you're doing. Then go through the tri-boot process and ask SPECIFIC questions. Believe it or not, we all live to serve specifically you, but we need you to actually attempt the process first.

Hmm. Problems with my last link. Nevermind, I'll just take it out.
