Just out of curiousity... what are your opinions of the new 2advanced?
http://www.2advanced.com/

Personally, I don't think it lives up to the hype :/
Maybe once a upon a time, this stuff used to be inspiring and unique, but now it's pretty much just a cliche...

I left before the "intro" finished.

*yawn*

I just don't have the patience for that kind of stuff...

Really? I thought the whole thing was an intro.

Edit: I think some of the lag is due to the server load. It is "opening day" after all. This morning, my connection actually timed out just waiting for it to load.

the previous was masterful and has been for what? 1 or 2 years? This has increased cheese factor x10, pretty disappointing.

Their clients sites and previous site are much better in my opinion. This is maybe the worst site I've seen from them. Cyan? Gah.

Agreed.

Whose idea was it to paste little Japanese characters on the preloaders?
I can't read Japanese, but something tells me those characters are meaningless...

no, it's pretty good for people who haven't seen much of these things during these past few weeks...like muah! Loved it but the color isn't that good to my eyes.
I love flashes....

Okay. a) it takes guts to use two opposing colors in a colorscheme, especially this read and blue.
b) they failed horribly, however.

They say that it raises the bar... welll. I'm not impressed, sorry to say. it all looked very nifty, but it's done before... by themselves.

About the only thing I can say that is positive about the site is .. the graphic art is about the only thing that makes the site seem impressive .. but once I start clicking on links and what not .. takes FAR to long to load .. especially on a Cable modem at 2am in the morning .. lol

[second look] there is much to say in simplicity .. and frankly the amount of flash used to produce this page makes it x10 (like another said) horrid

[third look] .. anyone else notice all the dead space in different locations on the menu links(company, services, portfolio, etc) .. I didn't know dead space was the wave of the future

[fourth observation] .. anyone else think music on a website is tacky?

Looks neat, but not neat enough to hold my interest during the horribly long load times.

I'm on a fast connection at my office, hell, just downloaded an episode of Hellsing at over 500KB/s .. and this site is taking longer it feels like.

One thing I try and do on my websites (although, not 'creative', applications, reservation systems, etc) is make the suckers as responsive as possible ... this site is far from responsive.

hhhmmm..... All I see is people moaning about it, here and else where, why?

For a start when 2advanced had the blue one, it was ground breaking with all the animation and stuff. But they can't do it again and again, because:

1) Most of their work for clients has most of the up to date effect and things and to incorporate that level of "wow" factor for clients and themselves is hard to do.

2) More multimedia companies are now about that is better if not equal in skills to what the people at 2advanced are.

Also the flash plug in has moved a lot in two years and more sites showcasing the best of flash are about too. So what you see at 2advanced is a little crap, compared to the 100's of other great flash sites you have seen over the years. To me 2advanced has had it?s time and it?s effects and ideas have been used to much on there own and copied from others. So they?ve lost there edge.

As for 'raising the bar', they have in the backend stages, if you read their news box. Most of the stuff they have used is server sided, so what you see on the front is not much, but what is behind it all, might make up for that claim.

It is that is nice, because they?re being different with colours and things, even tho I really don?t like the cyan colour. It still in the end has the same feel as what 2advanced is known for.

Well I have to say it's a lot more interesting than some of the sites some of the people here have. I liked it, love to see what people do with Flash, ...and yeh what a bunch of crabs...

Crabs?

No...just not all that interested in a bunch of shit jumping all over my page to bad music with huge load times (there's no way I should wait that long on a T1 for christ's sake....I can't imagine what it's like on dial-up...).

Obviously, that's the field that they're in....that field just doesn't do much for me, personally.

I'm on dialup and the load times weren't any different from their previous site, which wasn't that bad considering the kind of content their delivering. So I had to wait 10 seconds here and there, I honestly don't mind waiting 10 seconds when I get somehting interesting.

The colour scheme doesn't gell too well with me but it could be worse. On a whole, it's very similar to their last site, and it should be, otherwise it wouldn't be 2Advanced anymore now would it.

The motion design is slick and the intergration of digital video in parts is extreamly well done. The sound on the otherhand has slipped IMHO. The way 2A used sound effects in their last site was extreamly effective but there is very little in the way of sound design here. I think this really lets the animations down.

Overall, I like it. My only real gripes are the lack of sound design, the questionable colours and a slight case of "haven't I seen all this before?", but those points aside it has a lot of polish, as I'd expect from an entire studio of designers with their kind of experience.
