I recently installed QuickZip as I was growing tired of the WinZip 8 nag screen, but I decided I didn't really like it so I've uninstalled it but it's left behind a bunch of shell extentions (commands in the right click context menu). Anyways, is there any way I can manually remove these as I've tried re-installing and un-installing the QuickZip to no avail. |

I had the same problem a while ago. Just go to run and type in "regedit," and do searches for the phrase that comes up in the right click (I forgot exactly where). You should find it. Somewhere. |

The previous message says it all but you may try to look at the HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT key, the first one that shows up in Regedit, then open the star * sub-key, then you'll find OpenWithList and shellex (Shell Extensions). It's a direct way to find the bastard and, if it doesn't work, try the other mentioned approach. This is WinXP's tip but it should work with other recent Windows'es. |

Two utilities come to mind. And the usual warnings about tinkering with the registry apply. |

if I'm not mistaken, I think that on WinBoxes you can open explorer and go "Tools>Folder Options>File Types" and directly modify the shell extentions, 'open with' and even the icon of specific filetypes... you might even be able to remove them, I think.. |
