Okay, I don't know how many of you watched this show, but I know one of the comics in the final group. He used to work the same place I do, before he ran off to Los Angeles to seek his fortune a couple of years ago. I found out this morning that that same guy, Dat Phan, won the whole kit and kaboodle! It's kind of surreal to see someone you know on national television. Even weirder to know that he won it!

How about that? It's a strange world we live in...

Too bad he's not very funny.

yeah I thought Ralphie May was a lot funnier. I thought Dat's asian mother routine got old quick.

Ralphy was funny, but his last standup bit (on the show before the final) was well, a whole lotta un-funny. He just ranted on and on about 'blow em up'. Possibly if I was a yank, I would of found it amusing, but I found myself wanting to flip the station about 30 seconds into the rant.

Personnaly, I think Dat Phan is funny, and when he needs to, he can rely on material other then his mother bit (in later shows, he cut down reliance on his mother material) . However, I dont forsee a show being based on/around him being all that sucesfull.

But, I think Rich Vos should of won. He's funny, and I could see myself sitting down to watch a series staring him, hell, team him up with that Dave guy and your allready better off then you are with Dat.

Actually that's funny last night I was thinking of Rich and Dave teaming up as a sort of new odd couple

I saw Ralhpie May about a year ago at the Laugh Factory and I swear to God I almost fell out of my chair he was so funny. I unfortunately didnt get to see him in the show before the final but I did see him last night. I dont know why he chose in the last two episodes to do a ranting bit. What I enjoyed about him is that he doesnt do the standard fat jokes. I'd rather hear more of those elephant jokes.
I also agree that Dat Phan was not very funny and Dave and Rich WOULD be the better show.

Rinswind 2th: Without actually bothering to look this up I suspect it is a reality TV show but the 'twist' is that rather than pop stars, chefs, hair dressers, etc. they are....... stand up comedians.

I didn't watch the whole progression or anything, but I caught a couple of episodes...

Premis of Last Comic standing
- TV Show traveled around america, holding a comic contest
- After a few rounds of elimination, they got down to a final 10
- Final 10 were put up in a house, and had contests to win prizes (usualy publicity of some sort), sorta BigBrother ish
- At the end of each week, each comic had to vote on who they thought they were funnier then
- The person who got voted the most (ie: most people thought they were funnier then they were), would have to pick from a person who voted for them to do a 'head to head' compotition
- The person who was voted on, and who they selected then do a quick comic routine at a club, and the audiance votes on who was funnier

The person who lost, got kicked off, the winner stays for another week

Once they got down to a final 5, I think they had a nation-wide vote (people could call in and vote for who they wanted to win)
The winner won some cash I think, and an exlusive contract with NBC to do a TV show (or atleast create a poilt and see if it could go anywhere, I dont think there is a 100% chance that the show will actually get aired..)
